Divx encoding files break ... how to fix break

I will most often back most of my Divx encoded DVDs up onto CDs but since I had a new hard drive I thought that I didn't have to. To make a long story short nearly half of my own ripped/Divx encoded DVDs were corrupted when the file system on my hard drive fell apart due to a Windows OS issue. I was able to recover all of my data but half of the Divx movies were "broken" and would not play in either PowerDVD or Windows Media Player 9.

My question is there a player that will still play a movie if the entirety is missing? It would be better if there were some software that could fix such "broken" divx movies.

    Respectfully,

You'd probably be more successful - and spend less time overall - by simply creating new DivX files from your DVDs...
