    1) Why are you trying to convert an XviD file to DivX?

    2) Do you have BOTH an XviD codec and a DivX codec installed?

      1) I wanted to try The new version of Virtual Dub v1.5.5 ,
Because in the previous version of Virtual Dub , when you try to open an XVID file you get an Error
      -----------
      Example
      -----------

but in the new version of Virtual Dub v1.5.5 i did not have any Error Messages ,so i tried to convert the file In the normal way:
compression divx 5.05--> save as avi
and then started the problem with the Crashes
      2) I have the XviD and DivX codec

        1) That information (NOT error) message has NOTHING to do with the fact that the VIDEO codec used is XviD. It is merely advising you that the AUDIOSTREAM was created as a Variable Bitrate ("VBR") .MP3 stream, which (standard) VirtualDub cannot properly process

        2) For your experimental conversion, I'd suggest that you instead try using VirtualDubMOD (different than the standard VirtualDub)

Still I have the same problem
Maybe it is something in the registry??
Because I use Virtual Dub more then Year to convert movies and adding them subtitles

          Example in Flash

You need to realize that Vdub 1.5.5 is an experimental version. So use latest release 1.5.6 from www.virtualdub.org
