Error in TMPGEnc and MainConcept Encorder

Hi,
I have a AVI film that I want to convert to VCD format. The problem is that the film freezes at a certain point (giving a red colour screen) and my TMPGEnc stops!
I have also tried MainConcept but the same thing happens...
Is there anyway I can get through this point and convert the full film to VCD?
Please help!

1) Load the .AVI file (DivX-compressed or otherwise) into the most recent version of either VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod

2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"

3) Select "Check for errors"

4) Select "Mask bad frames"

5) Save with a new filename
