how do i fix a bad audio stream

i had to encode a really bad version (as in full of errors) of a VCD to an avi file.
    1) i fixed the errors using VCD geat but disabled file splitting. on loading the file in VirtualDub, it gives a packet sync error. how do i fix this?
    2) I tried file splitting in VCD gear and loaded the separate clips, when i ran into the second problem. there seems to be a fault inthe audio stream. it gives a not enough data to encode audio framee/stream.
i used MP3 codec and a WMaudio codec and both gave the same error in virtual dub. how do i fix this error?
    3) when i tried loading trhe second clip.. it gave an error saying something was wrong with the 0 frame or something like that? how do i fix the original movie then?

will be lots of help if anyone can help me out inthis one..
    thanks a lot!

In Virtual Dub, Try the following:

    1. Open you AVI

    2. Choose "Video" > "Framerate"

    3. Then choose "Change so Video and Audio durations match" Click OK

    4. Go back to "File" and "Save as AVI" (F7 key)

This is a quickie method, but it's worth a shot.
