Problem: Installed DivX codecs not usable

I've got a strange problem with divx codecs. I have installed 3.x and 4.x and they work fine as decoders. Also I see them installed at "Sounds and multimedia" in Control Panel. The problem is that they are not visible and usable in VirtualDub (Video-> Compression...). The encoding stops at the popup window with divxauto saying that DivX codecs cannot be found.

Anybody has an idea what is going on? I tried also to reinstall the system from scratch and the situation is still the same.

    I have Athlon XP +1600, GeForce2 MX, Win2000.

In addition I have another partition with WinXP and everything works fine... Is it sth about AMD, Win2000, Windows update patches????? Any ideas??? Please help. Thx.

Have you tried reinstalling the codecs?

Is win2k on C: or D:?? If on D: you may have aproblem with a program only searching C: for required files. No thats stupid forget it. It's just that I don't use DivxAuto (never found a need for it), so not sure if it likes duel boot systems.

          Hi,

Excuse my bad english. I have the same problem. When I try to encode an avi (with virtualdub) I can see all the codecs that windows shows in the multimedia devices, but when I try to capture, only shows me a few of them.

This problem has apeared since I reinstalled my Win98. On WinXP did not appear this problem, and other installations I've done before of Win98 didn't get me this error.

          I got an AMD 1GHz, and Win98 2º Edition.

          Thank you in advance
