    bbmpg crashes (win2k)

    been downloading avi2mpg player after avi2mpg player trying to get some files off my machine and onto my dvd player/32" teli.

    commonly, i'm not getting any sound from any of my files and when i open an AVI in bbmpg, it keeps crashing it. Have even downloaded the XP patch (even though i'm running Win2k/sp2).

    is there any 'trouble free' software out there i can use? Is there a simple solution for my woes? Yak Yak Yak.

    Try TMPGEnc for converting your .AVIs to MPEG1-VideoCD or MPEG2-SuperVideoCD...

        What is the audio format of the .AVIs that you're trying to convert?

        Does your problem have anything to do with your lady friend's activities?

            "the Avi's a DIV-X one."

            That only describes the video format.

            Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub. From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information". Post ALL of the listed information (video and audio).

            (I knew where the quote came from. I guess my little joke just fell flat on its face ;>})

              Clerks/Avi's

              Sorry 'bout that. I Do still come across the occasional person who stares at me blankly when i start raving about having Sex in a very uncomfortable place.

              just downloading Virtual Dub now: please stand by....

              on opening the file, i get the following message:

              "VBR audio stream detected:
              VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 161750ms ofd skw from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant birtrate encoder. (bitrate: 145.6 (ohm) 39.4 kpbs)"

                The audiostreams of those files are VBR (Variable Bit Rate)-MP3, which cannot be handled by TMPGEnc (and apparently not by BBMPG either).

                Follow the instructions given to you by VirtualDub to either convert to CBR (Constant Bit Rate)-MP3, or extract as a WAV file (which you can later merge back with your video file). Your revised video should then be acceptable for MPEG conversion.

                Let us know of your success ;>}
