virtualdub 1.3c question

i downloaded this old version because it was the last version i believe to support .asf. i noticed that when i save a .wav file or even an .avi, it makes the file ok, but it doesn't have the extension. it comes out with just the name of the file i gave it. so i give it the right extension when the job finishes and everything is ok, but anyone know why this is? ver 1.5 and vdubmod don't do this...just curious

According to this page you can use VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.x (19/05/03) with asf support.

Try this
Options>>Preferences>>Main
and then put a checkmark next to "Automatically add extension to filenames when saving"

If it works then are you a defective detective ;>}

well, i don't know when or if ever i will need it again, but at least i found it can be done manually!

same here, i avoid all microsoft video formats, though if i ever come accross an asf file, vdub 1.3c is always handy...
