    'VBR Audio Stream Detected'

Using virtual dub, I decompressed the audio file to wav file.
How do I now recompress the wav file to a constant bitrate?
    What values should I choose?

When I decompressed the audio file and then used the wav file and video file in TMPG, I ended up with the sound about 1/2 sec faster than the video.
    How can I fix this?
Would recompressing the wav file to a constant bitrate fix this?
The divx movie plays the sound perfectly in Windows Media Payer.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Use any MP3 encoder, like Lame. 128kbps or above is ideal.

I don't use TMPGEnc much, so wouldn't know of a direct solution to your problem. Isn't the audio automatically loaded off the avi file when you open the movie file in TMPGEnc?

      Open VirtualDub

Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"

      Set "Audio" to "No audio"

      Load your .AVI

Then, from under the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Wav audio"

      Load your .WAV file

Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"

Then, from under the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Conversion" and set to 44,100

Then, from under the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and (assuming you have an MP3/MPEG3 audio codec installed) select your desired 44,100 MP3 sampling rate (anything from 96 higher should be acceptable)

From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save with a new filename

      Play the .AVI

      Let us know of your success ;>}

Fixed one thing but not the other..

I successfully compressed the wave file and saved the new avi,
however I now have the synch problem of the audio being about 1-2 secs faster than the video.
There was no synch problelms with the original divx.

Could tell me how to realign the sound and video?
Could I cut about 1 sec off the beginning of the video to make the audio then start where it should?

Can this be done with virtual dub?

          I am a quick learner!!

          Thanks

You can use a program called AVIINFO. Go here for a great article on sync problems and solutions. I like the program AVIINFO for this. http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/audio-synch.htm

Prior to saving the new .avi file, go to the Interleave option under the Audio tab. Delay Audio Track by 10,000-20,000 ms (Play around with the value till you get perfect synch). I usually interleave the audio every 10 seconds (10,000 ms) of the movie. Others have different settings though.

                Thanks!!

                I'll try there!

I think it has worked by using those guidlines with audio inteleaving.

                thanks again!!
