Easiest way to splice 2 divx avis together?

    Simple question.

I downloaded a movie that was in 2 parts (2 avis). I figured I'd just use Preimere to splice them together, but it seems to crash a lot and is awful flaky with really large DivX files. What is the easiest way (best software program) to edit/splice videos together and then perhaps change the bitrate and/or resolution to fit it on1 cd. thanks!!

virtualdub is definetly the tool you are looking for, there is a guide for joining two avi files here.

Virtualdub is also a great tool for reencoding video at a lower bitrate, just select full processing mode in the video menu, go into video->compression, and select your favorite codec and select an appropriate bitrate, resizeing the image size is done in the Video->filters menu.

But if I were you, I would just stay with the current 2-CD encoding, reencoding to fit on one CD will reduce the quality.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.
