Virtualdub and divx 5 won't work

I have tried to install the divx 5.01 and go into virtualdub to put some subtitles onto my movie. But everytime I try to open the movie, it tells me "can't locate the decompressor for format dx50"

Does virtualdub not work with divx5.01 or am i doing something wrong?

If you don't presently have it installed, download and install the most recent version of VirtualDub - v.1_4_10

I have version 1_4_10 installed, but it still tells me the same.

Try reinstalling Divx 5.01 - It should work fine.

          Skipping divx 5.01

I have now found out, that there is more problems with divx 5.01
so I have desided to let it go. Everytime I try to se a movie, there is some small jump in the picture and when I go back to 4.12, I don't have the problem.

Many people have had the same problem you describe, it may be remedied by returning to divx 5.0

The divx 5.0 codec still contains many "bugs" yet to be ironed out.
