TMPGEnc - DivX to MPEG2 without Sound

I´ve got a problem with TMPGEnc. Normally it should be no problem to convert a movie from DivX to MPEG 2 (SVCD). But sometimes movies have an accounted playtime of about 10 hours or more though the movie has just a playtime of about 100min. In this case it seems to be a problem to convert this movies from DivX to MPEG2. After converting I get a terrific movie but without any kind of sound.

I tried to select a source range within TMPGEnc but the result will be the same. The TMPGEnc-Wizard shows me that the estimated file size will exceed the Disc-Capacity about 800%. Very strange....

Who of you is able to solve my problem so that I´ll get a good MPEG2-Video WITH sound. Thanks in advance for your help. Sorry if my englisch isnt´t the best but I´m sure you´ll understand my problem.

Your DivX-compressed .AVI file undoubtedly includes an audiostream in a format unacceptable to TMPGEnc. In order to possibly provide more meaningful insight, do the following:

    1) Load the file into VirtualDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Although your screen capture is not of the "File Information" from the "File" dropdown menu, it does confirm my speculation regarding audio format. To remedy the problem, do the following to converting .AVI with VBR-MP3 Audio:

Simply use VirtualDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into VirtualDub
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close VirtualDub and restart it
        Set "Audio" to "No audio"
        Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and choose the appropriate .MP3 settings. Click on "OK"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.

Setarip...I'm having same trouble, and everything is clear up until you say' "choose appropriate .MP3 settings"

which are those, assuming I want to just convert it to a VCD or SVCD?? I've got a lot of choices listed....

          Thanks

            To costabrava

Then you need only use the silent .AVI and the .WAV file to load into TMPGEnc. There's no reason for any further conversion to .MP3, in your case...
