    Problem Getting DivX Codecs Installed

I have downloaded numerous versions of the DivX codec without any luck. My problem is that when I attempt to install any version of DivX from the executable setup file. All seems to go well, but when I try to play a file I get no sound. So I went into the Windows 2000 control panel, and worked my way to a window that shows all the audio and video codecs installed. (This is on a laptop with software dvd decoding) I found that the DivX video codec was installed, but that the audio one was not. Any ideas? Is there a way for me to manually install the audio codec? I don't think it's the fact that it is a laptop but I am at a loss for words. Help please!

It depends on what audio stream your files are using. It can be MP3, which I trust yous system is capable of playing, or it can be the hacked WMA codec, which should be installed along with 3.11a (Provided you said Yes to its installation affirmation). Otherwise, it is likely to be in AC3, which will require you to install the AC3 codec from anyone of the codec packs (Tsunami or Nimo), or have a software DVD player (PowerDVD or WinDVD) installed.

That's one of things that has been bothering me. I have WinDVD installed. Had successful installations, and the codec still fails to register with windows 2000 for some reason.
