Freezing each second

hi all!


i'm getting one issue after the rebuild step(3 clicks)
the source have one lpcm and another ac3-5.1 audio tracks,no subps.
was encoded 2 times: first time cce2.5 2 passes and another with HC16(standard adjusts),no filters.

when i run the result in neroshowtime from video_ts folder in pc or from dvd-rw in standalone/tv,the sound run perfect but the image freeze each second,than run faster and freeze again in next second.(i think that i'm clear-i will)

strange: i was trying to use chopper xp to cut part of the result to post here but i get black window.(showing everything black).

another: if i run any of the files encoded(V01000000001001.m2v to V01001100001012.m2v) they are running perfectly,no one freeze.

Bad mux perhaps - but the log looks fine (other than very strange "reduction level").

Why are you doing anything? The source can fit on a DVD-5? There's no need to re-encode, just remux your streams - use muxman for this.

Probably the high bitrate -- the playback codec can't keep up. I see that all the time on PC players that don't buffer properly.

the source can fit on a dvd-5,no need to re-encode.(another of my mad ideas)
this 2 tests (cce and hc here)was without filters.
i'm trying to do the same that i did with 5th element...just to use a few of fft3dfilter(bt=-1,sharpen=0.3) or asharp(1,2) to encrease details.
with 5th element result is really cool(better than original for my taste) i don't had any problem.

just remux your streams - use muxman for this

but what about the menu?!?..if i loose the (very cool)menu better is don't reencode because is one musical...(and i love musicals).

@jdobbs - high was only 7Mbps - well within specs. Gee, that would be one badly stuffed up buffer.

@jeo - can always put the menu back - replace the movie stream in the original with your new mux (use VobBlanker). Same prinniple as here.

thanks to remeber me that guide(i had used before and is cool).

i have one more information:
if i load VTS_01_1.VOB from the video_ts folder(from RB output path inside dvdfiles folder) the image run fine and audio is losing sincro minutes later in vdubmod/mpclassic. when running round 70% the image freeze(like photo) and the audio stay running.

VTS_01_2.VOB to VTS_01_5.VOB (don't open or run in mpclassic) and video/audio are completely out of sincro in vdubmod.

That doesn't matter. I'm telling you, I've seen it all too often. Once it gets over 4 or 5Mbs lots of codecs start skipping frames because they can't keep up. I can show you an example by just loading the MainConcept Encoder on my AMD XP 2400+ system. It's codec will become the default for Media Player and will start doing exactly as described. Remove it or play it back with PowerDVD and all is well.

does this happen only with DVDRB output? i just tried a 6.5 mbps dvb capture (dvd res), with mainconcept decoding, only 8%-12% cpu usage (athlon 3800+) & no sutter

and default decoder settings.

i appreciate too (much) and understand your tips jdobbs, but only to inform(complements) :
i have 3 standalones players(Philco,CCE(lasonic)and Philips),playstation II(play dvds(i'm technician and hacked it)) and lg4081(pc).
[edit] playing the video_ts folder in pc or dvd-r sansung or dvd+r philips burned at 2X playing in everywhere.(just the same)
happen (exact)the same "freezes" in all players only with this musical that was completely encoded 2 times from the begining using HC and CCE.

Ok. I see the problem.

You apparently have added "OVERRIDE_BITRATE_CHECK=1" to your INI file. You shouldn't do that except under very special circumstances. Here is the notes from REBUILDER.TXT

- Added bitrate sanity checks for circumstances in
which the calculated bitrate might be greater than
the original. This can sometimes happen in Movie-Only
modes. An analysis of reports of stutter occurring
on certain players has determined it is linked to the
reintegration of the original audio stream with
higher-that-original bitrates. It is possible to
override this check (but it is NOT RECOMMENDED) by
adding the hidden flag "OVERRIDE_BITRATE_CHECK=1" to
the "[Options]" area of REBUILDER.INI.

As we say in the business... this is a "self inflicted injury"

The original audio streams remain intact when they are remultiplexed. When you force the bitrate to 140% of its original and then try to keep the audio stream it forces STD buffer overflows.

I should have noticed that 140% thing earlier.... I'm getting a little slow in my old age. That can't happen without the OVERRIDE_BITRATE_CHECK set.

but it's a full dvd(menus,chapters(musics list), audio options...everything)

Hmmm.... I'll have to check and make sure that version limits bitrate also. I don't remember if I added it. That's the problem with maintaining two versions... and (of course) the Pro version takes priority.

I'm sure that's the problem though.

Why not just use no compression? You can't do better than the original -- or am I missing something?
