    Manually upgrade filters

    I heard a lot about rebuilder so tried it today(the free version), took 6 hrs to encode. but still have to view the movie to comment about quality.

    Anyways, my question is:

    Can I upgrade the avisynth, decomb and dgdecode filters to new versions since the ones with the installer are old ??

    Is there a way I can configure the target size for DVD ???

    What else can be done for better speed ???

    hi tech!
    i'm using free rb too with the last avisynth256,the last DGDecode 1.1.1 SSE build by NaN RERELEASE ...as my pc is slow i can't feel the speed encrease but have one thread in doom9 where all that are using the NaN realise proove that the speed encrease...i don't change the decomb(i don't knew that have new version)
    resuming: i don't have problems using this versions,all is working fine.
    about velocity using cce is faster than hc but i don't saw differences in quality encoding LOTR with this encoders,using msharp(20,20) and comparing with source the result is equal as source.the result is cool(trust me but do your test).without any filter i see the picyures a little "faded" with all encoders compoaring with source...if you know what i mean(poor english,you know me).
    for target size use:
    CCETargetSectors=2264000 #take care: give little oversize(4.38Gb) with OPV but is cool using 2 or more passes.
    TargetSectors=2264000 # for HC is a little undersize...4.31GB

    this is my rebuilder.ini for cce:
    [Options]
    min_bitrate=300
    CCETargetSectors=2264000
    SkinVersion=3
    HC_Quality=1
    ReduceOpt=0

    CCE=0
    NoWarn=1
    AdditionalOutput=1
    LogFile=1
    EncoderMinimized=1
    RemoveDTS=1
    QuEncHQ=0
    HalfD1=00
    Convert_16_9=00
    DisableInterlace=00
    Completed=3
    ConvertToYUY2=1
    Mode=1
    AVSFilter01=Msharpen(20,20)
    [Paths]
    CCE250=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\Cinema Craft Encoder SP\EclCCE.exe
    CCENEW=C:\Arquivos de programas\Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.7\Trial\cctspt.exe
    HC=C:\Arquivos de programas\DVD-RB\Encoders\HC Encoder\HCbatch.EXE
    DECOMB=C:\Arquivos de programas\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Decomb521.dll
    MPEG2DEC=C:\Arquivos de programas\DVD-RB\DGDecode.dll
    Source=D:\SH-LOTR\VIDEO_TS\
    Working=D:\LOTR3\
    Output=D:\LOTR3\
    [Audio]
    Selected=110
    [Subpictures]
    Selected=110110
    [CCEOptions]
    VBR_bias=25
    Quality_prec=16
    eclPasses=2
    OPV=1
    [Setup].....

    well,i will that this can help a little.
    regards.

        okay, I ugraded the following to the latest:

        DGdecode
        Decomb
        Avisynth
        HC encoder

        Hope this will give me some increase in the encoding performance.

          tech,
          i read somewhere in doom9 some days ago:someone post that avisynth255 run faster than 256...i don't remember the thread or post and deserve some tests.i'm searching that post and testing the avisynth versions...can you do the same with only one cell in RB?

          regards!

              for example:
              encoding LOTR,i have 41 cells to encode(movie only).

              1) run RB 3 steps.
              2) run "prepare"
              after this step you will have lots of .avs in the working path,where each .avs means one cell.
              3) edit the rebuilder.inf from working path
              4) in [STATUS],edit the Encode_Progress=xx where the "xx" is the cell to be encoded,....just choose for example Encode_Progress=10 or any other....save
              5) run "encode" in RB and will start encoding the segment choosed!
              6) after that segment stop RB.
              7) now install the other avisynth over the version installed(don't need to restart the pc)
              8) repeat from 3 to 6.

              .oh my...excuse my english tech...i am clear?!?!

                  Very good jeo--I've never seen this before! Previously for testing I've made a complete (but very short) VIDEO_TS of the desired sequence. But I like your "trick"!

                    One more quality trick that I discovered is :

                    1) Use DVD-RB in three click mode
                    2) After initial preparation, goto your \tempfolder\D2VAVS\
                    3) Add cpu=4 parameter to the mpeg2source command
                    i.e. mpeg2source("C:\Temp\D2VAVS\V01.D2V",cpu=4,idct=7)
                    4) Change for all the avs scripts in this folder before your start encode.

                    Benefits, read these excerpts fromt the DGdecode manual:

                    Code:
                    [B]cpu[/B]: 0 to 6 (default: 0)
                    [LIST][I]Post-Processing Quickset Options.
                    (Y=luma, C=chroma, H=horizontal, V=vertical)[/I]
                    - 0: DISABLE POST-PROCESSING
                    - 1: DEBLOCK_Y_H
                    - 2: DEBLOCK_Y_H, DEBLOCK_Y_V
                    - 3: DEBLOCK_Y_H, DEBLOCK_Y_V, DEBLOCK_C_H
                    - 4: DEBLOCK_Y_H, DEBLOCK_Y_V, DEBLOCK_C_H, DEBLOCK_C_V
                    - 5: DEBLOCK_Y_H, DEBLOCK_Y_V, DEBLOCK_C_H, DEBLOCK_C_V, DERING_Y
                    - 6: DEBLOCK_Y_H, DEBLOCK_Y_V, DEBLOCK_C_H, DEBLOCK_C_V, DERING_Y, DERING_C
                    [/LIST]
                    Code:
                    [LIST]To do deblocking only:

                    MPEG2Source("project.d2v", cpu=4)</PRE>[/LIST]
