I took DVDRB off one click mode and let it prepare when it was done preparing I went to the DVDRB work folder opened the ecl file that was in there and then I changed adjust_q_matrix=0 to adjust_q_matrix=1 and saved it then I hit encode.

Did you change in all ECL files (as I suggested) or in one particular ECL file.

Yeah ! I know. But how would it effect the quality on the resultant video is what needs to be evaluated.

with qmatop there is a blur around the guy I used the same filters on both

But with out qmatop there wasn't

I am going to do the same thing again later but with out the filters
                ---------------------------
I was reading at the other site SAPSTAR states
For your info, jdobbs just released DVDRB 1.07, a new functionality is : multiple encoder processes

DONT USE IT WITH AQE!!!! :

1- Useless AQE is already multithreaded
2- The way DVDRB runs it is not compatible with AQE. Except if you deactivated QMatOp.

                That's it.....
I wonder if that would be the case with DVDRB 0.96 that could be the reason it looks better with out QMatOP

I guess its valid for the pro ver only, since the free ver does not support this feature.

Here are the shots from my tests, conditions remain the same as in TEST Case B, only added OPV with QmatOP.

                      Shots are joined as:

Test B, OPV <---+---> Test B, OPV with QmatOP

Difference is quite unnoticable, unless you strain your eyes. But look at the Badge on the polliceman and his shirt. QmatOP seems to have enhanced the colors and sharpened it a bit(reason for the increased file size, 4.44 GB with QmatOP).

It could also be since the compressions required in my test are negligible, probably the QmatOP will be more useful in cases where more compression is required.

I see what you mean, I will give my sopranos another go tomorrow without using vobblanker or anything as I did tonight. That should test out the compression theory

with qmat and filters done at 52.1%

This is done with OPV,Qmat and same filters done at 52.1%

I like the second shot as per my taste, since the first one is too sharpened and could bring out the artifacts during certain scenes.

I agree with you,I didnt use that much sharp though I had it set at (1,2) would it work and look better if I set it to (0.5,1.5). It is grainy so I used RemoveGrainSSE2 set to mode2 and deen().

I dont use any sharpness, since DVD sources are already clean enough and sharpness, apart from enhancing the contrast and artifacts also adds to the file size (less compression by encoder).

Use Removegrain and deen only, is what I would suggest. Also using multiple passes negates the effect of filters therefore I use OPV whereever possible.
