    Thanks,

Did you deselect any audio tracks?

Try pressing the audio button on your DVD remote to switch tracks.

Look on the setup screen. It's possible you have selecte to remove ALL languages. Of course it may be that you've removed the language that is the default (as nwg suggested).

I have just encountered the same problem ... since using DVD-RB 1.10.7

I have reencoded with both CCE 2.7 and AutoQMatEnc, but the rebuilt files have no playable audio despite the track (there is only one) being reportedly present as per DVDremake Pro. Furthermore, the video files are not 'seekable'. Definitely no boxes ticked in setup screen for autolanguage removal.

No error messages in the logs. Seems to be a bad rebuild? How should I start troubleshooting this problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting you mentioned that the video files were not seekable. I did two discs from American Gothic with Procoder and they were also not seekable. The other AG discs were done with CCE and were fine.

A quick remedy is put the DVD-RB files through Shrink and have about 0.5% compression. Shrink will transcode new files and create new IFO's which are seekable.

I think I also was using 1.10.7 at the time.

There is a badly cracked version of 1.10.7 floating around in which the "patch" is causing the video to be multiplexed with empty audio packets. It's possible the other problem could be caused by the same...

I don't know how you stay so nice to people who use cracked versions of your program. I'm not talking about nwg (not even sure if he has) but people in general.

People can't help themselves... they love to feel like they're "getting one over" -- I can tell you, though, that I test every DVD-RB crack that shows up on the internet, and so far almost every single one I've downloaded has had something serious wrong with it (like the one in this post).

I downloaded one that couldn't do a single REBUILD correctly because it had a patch right in the middle of the REBUILD routine that had absolutely nothing to do with cracking it. Another one for some reason slowed down to almost a crawl (I can't even imagine why).

The bad thing is that people usually don't know that the crack is the problem, not the program. My biggest concern is that these incompetent hackers might give DVD-RB a bad name.

BIG SUGGESTION to would-be hackers: If you don't want to pay for DVD Rebuilder Pro, just use the freeware version (available here. At least then you aren't wasting your time doing a 3 hour encode with something that won't work.

                  No fooling the experts.

I had suspected that this was the root of the problem.
All apologies for wasting everyones time.

I have now donated to the cause. Thanks for a great program JD

um, maybe it has something to do with the fact that jdobbs creates software for criminals. and criminals (99% of DVD-RB users, i guarantee it) aren't going to pay $30 to buy something they are using to steal from others. let's not kid ourselves that people are using this for "backups." now who's being naive? it would be more than a tad ironic if jdobbs was angry that people were depriving him of money by pirating his software.

(i'm not saying jdobbs is a criminal, only that a few honest criminals are making him rich)

Cap'n Obvious - that is way out of line. No-one here is a senior intellectual property lawyer with an intimate knowledge of the DMCA, the Fair Use Act and the myriad of other complex IP and other laws (both domestic and international), so please refrain from making legal statements/accusations on this forum.

In any event, DVD Rebuilder will not work with an encrypted source.

                      Please observe rule 2.

@jdobbs - on behalf of Digital Digest, please accept our apologies for moronic statements made.

                        les, les, les.

c'mon. i went out of my way to point out that i don't consider jdobbs criminal, nor his software. so i'm not sure why exactly you are apologizing to him. if anything i insulted his non-paying customers, calling them criminals. are you going to apologize to them too?

i merely pointed out that jdobbs serves the criminal element, and as such, he runs the risk of not getting paid. you can save your legal equivocations for your priest, your mother, and your conscience - it's insulting to both of us that you would come on a forum like this one, especially with your god-awful signature, and claim legal ignorance through the proliferation of acronyms. i'm not going to tell your mom on you, so you can spare me the BS. dvd rebuilder is to legal backups what assault rifles are to deer hunting: justify the loopholes all you want (wink wink), but we both know why people own them. if you feel guilty, that's your conscience's fault, not mine.

and you'd be wise not to make assumptions about the legal backgrounds of strangers you meet on the internet.

That's ridiculous. You might as well argue that VCRs, cassette tapes, and TiVo are all criminal too. For that matter, how about a copy machine? Wait, let's not leave out the pencil -- because I could very possibly use it to write down something that is intellectual property.

This is a fruitless discussion and in my opinion this thread should be closed before it gets out of hand. Cap'n Obvious is entitled to his view...

As for the idea that I'm out to get rich on this... I make less in donations that I would get from a paper route. If I were forced to pay myself minimum wage for the time I invested in DVD Rebuilder I'd be seriously in the hole. That's why I call it "donations"... because anything else would give the incorrect impression that this is somehow a profitable enterprise. The download figures on my site as well as others show that the overwhelmingly vast majority of DVD-RB users are using the freeware version.

By the way... VCRs, Cassette Tapes, and copy machines were all targets for this exact same argument when they were released. It was as silly back then as this is now... I guess Xerox, JVC, Sony, and Philips were all catering to the criminal element also.

I take exception to the overly broad statement that 99% of RB users are criminals. criminals (99% of DVD-RB users, i guarantee it)

He, Cap'n Oblivious, must be from the USA as he is unaware that making a backup of your movie is perfectly legal in many other countries. Indeed, the added backup tax on DVD media is prima facie evidence that the right of making a backup exists.

Cap'n Oblivious, also, certainly seems not to have children or he would know that parents tire of the financial costs involved in buying DVD's that are continually wrecked by children. Moreover, parents appreciate the software, like DVD Rebuilder among others, that allows us to safely put away the original disk while the kids are entrusted with a quality backup.

As far as jdobbs getting rich on the donations from RB, yes I heard he may be traveling to Paris and Athens on his next vacation...Paris, Texas and Athens, Georgia that is. *sarcasm*
