Dvd rebuilder how long?

I'm running an AMD Athlon 2500+ (OCed to 2.21GHz), 1gig of PC3500 and my working drive is a set of 120gb SATA in a Raid_0 config..... with CCE i get a 2 hour movie in around 3 hours, with Procoder on set to Master quality it takes 5 hours.
On a side note, I just started using this program recently and it is worth every minute of it. The quality of the backup from this program is so noticeable to me that I can;t believe I ever kept some of the movies Ihad previously backed-up before. I love the program. I use it for my episodal DVDs as well, as it seems to be the best answer for those.

I have moved this thread into the DVDRB forum where you will likely get answers from regular rebuilder users, including perhaps jdobbs the program's author.
I would check that your DMA is on. MY old machine Athlon 1700+ took about that time with Procoder2. Now, it's about 2 hours using multiple processes on an Athlon 3800+ X2.

You shold be doing better than 9 hours on that processor. Multiprocessing is using dual core processes to run 2 instances of the encoder over the same movie at once. Essentially one instance works on one bit of the movie, another instance of the encoder on another. And so it goes.
But I don't think a P4 3.06 could handle this with any better effect anyway. You could try it, though.

The only encoder you don't use"Multiple encoder processes" with is AutoQMatEnc because the feature is already built in. I may be wrong but I think ProCoder2 is the same way because it says it supports Dual Core & HT and it always uses 100% of my Pentium D processor with out the use of Multiple encoder processesAttached FilesLast edited by BR7; 24 Sep 2006, 11:22 AM.Comment

@BR7
It's been a while since I didn't use multiple process. The next DVD I do, I will try and see if the framerates are any different.

Depends on the Encoder
My speed is a little different. I have a new HP system AMD Athlon X2 64 +4600 1 GB RAM, 7200 SATA HDD and I use the free version of DVD-RB with HC Encoder. The free version doesn't have the enable dual processors option and I read the .pdf file that came with HCenc18 and it said that the encoder doesn't utilize dual core technology. Long movies (2.5 hrs.) take about 4.5 hrs. to run all the phases of DVD-RB then burn with Img burn or DVD Decrypter ISO.
The same DVD in Shrink will take less than an hour since Shrink will use dual core tech. But the quality isn't as good. I am convinced that DVD-RB is the way to go. May consider the pro version to get the benefit of dual core.Comment

Wow Art. That is double the time I take with Procoder 2, mastering quality (using dual core and admittedly overclocking my 3800 X2).
Go Pro and take advantage of the multiple processes and your CPU. However, as you noted, you'll need a change of encoders.
