My understanding is that Folder2ISO doesn't create the proper dvd file structure and so is worthless for creating dvds.

No need for ISOs. ImgBurn burns files. Direct to the device. Read the guides.
@Blutach - I went over to the Imgburn forum but did not want to post in the hornet's nest and get stung . I've read the threads and believe Imgburn does a fine job, especially with V2, as it burns IFO and vob file sets from HD.

I use NeroSmartStart "Burn DVD-Video files" that front ends the Nero Burning ROM program. It is nearly one click: just drop drag the folder to be burned, click the burn icon, type in a volume label, and click to burn. Done. Supported options I use include buffer underrun, SMART-BURN, booktype setting (LiIte-On drive). It WORKS EVERYTIME.

Consistenly burning solid DVD is still an art, given the variations in media quality, drive compatibility, proper DVD file structures, etc. Since I have a proven method to get clean burns are there other compelling benefits/reasons for existing Nero users to switch to Imgburn?

              Problem Solved

Thanks blutach and everyone else. The problem was Folder2ISO. I used ImgBurn and built as blutach stated. Good news is I am sold on DVDRebuilder, much slower than Shrink 4.h hrs with no changes to filter just HC Encode at best setting but output is quite good compared to Shrink with DA and AEC settings used. Worth the extra time.

              Thanks,
              AV

                Hey Art,

                Just out of curiosity ...

Q1: What movie were you rebuilding that it took 4 hours?

Q2: How long is YOUR MOVIE? (for example ... 2Hours 45Min, ... etc.)

Q3: What compression did you end up with using DVDRB?

Q4: What compression percentage where you at with DVDS?

                Thanks,

                G!

                  Movie

It was Harry Potter Goblet of Fire. Movie is about 2:15 mins. DVDRB (free version) said compression was about 62% I used menue shrink to give me more room or it would have been 53% The 4hrs. was for only the DVDRB functions analyze, encode, build. With the Media Center recording TV at the same time and I was reading e-mail. Not the smartest thing to do but it just worked out that way. Could never comfortably multitask with the P4 like that.

I didn't encode this movie with Shrink but I would assume it would be in the high 50% or low 60%

On my old PC P4 it would take 1.5 hrs or 2.0 hrs. to encode with DA and AEC settings used in Shrink on movies of this length. This new PC does the encoding with Shrink in aprox. 1/2 the time.

New compter, AMD Athlon 64 X2 +4600 Media Center PC 1 GIB DDR2 RAM only SAAT HDD 7200

                    Hi Art V.,

Thanks for the taking the time to REPLY ... I always like to see other people's experience with certain long movies that way I may adjust my goofball techniques.

BTW, congrats on your new "Toy".

                    Thanks again ...
