Editing in Rebuilder

I am backing up the series Buffy The Vampire Slayer. At the end of each episode there are some bits that I would like to remove. After loading the files into Rebuilder I went to the Editing screen and found the bits that I would like to remove. Blanked them out, processed and burned.

They were still there on the backup disc. Any idea what I did wrong?

Is there a way to edit using the 1 click method? Do I have to save it before I burn it? Just confused about why it didn't work.

You didn't do the PREPARE again, did you. After editing you want to make sure you only run ENCODE/REBUILD. Pushing the REBUILD button, by the way, will do both (2 click mode).

I guess I'm confused by your reply.

I was using the 3 click mode because I could not figure out how to stop the process long enough to edit if I used the one click. I did not click the prepare button again, as it was greyed out after the initial prepare. I edited and clicked the encode, and lastly the rebuild. Was this correct? I will be trying again, that's the fun of learning the process.

I wonder if I should just do it with DVDRemake first, FixVTS, and then load those files into Rebuiler?

That's the correct way. I can't imagine how something you removed with the editor could still be there... you pushed the "Save and Exit" button, I'm sure... hmmm.

This raises an interesting question, which I have not experimented with but perhaps you know the answer to.

If you blank a segment that is a re-used cell, but do not blank all the others, I guess they stay in with no savings in space. Is that right?

I don't think I know what you mean by a "re-used cell".

A cell that is used more than once in various PGCs.

For example:

Both PGC 1 and 2 might both use VCID = x/y

If you blank it in PGC 2, I guess it doesn't also blank in PGC 1 and therefore there is no space saved.

In DVD Rebuilder you blank based upon VOBID/CELLID -- so if you blank it, it will be blanked for every reference.

Yes. Of course that would also be true no matter what software you used. The cell only exists once in the VTS structure, so if you blanked it, it would have to be blanked in every reference.

The only alternative might be removing the reference in the PGC.
