No Pre-processing?

It seems the rule of thumb as mentioned several times is not to do (any?) 'pre-processing' of the DVD files B4 using DVDRB (Pro) to encode/build to DVD5 media.

1) Does this include FixVts as part of RI4M?
2) How then do you remove warnings, unwanted 'previews'/unwanted extras but still keep 'behind the scenes', deleted scenes, etc?

A related question: Is it generally recommended to run FixVts AGAIN (once as part of RI4M) AFTER using VobBlanker?

No. I always use RI4M with FixVts and I have had no problems

VobBlanker is the most user friendly to do this task(at least for me anyway)I find it easier to use then pgcedit.I always do it before I use DVD Rebuilder.Here is a link to the guide page on how to blank out what you don't want

Thanks for your reply. Yes I use vob blanker too.
{Generally successful, although there have been a few stubborn titles, i.e. blanking 'these views are of the actors and not representative of the studio (words to that effect)'. DVD won't play when you hit the play button from the main manu.}

So do U / is it recommended to run FixVts again AFTER vobblanker?

In any event, I guess it is caveat emptor as far as potential issues w/ DVDRB?

You can use the beta previewer to remove any segment you don't want.

You shouldn't need FixVTS after VobBlanker if you have elected to fix all SRI/SYNCI pointers.

I personally preprocess with DVDRemake pro and then run that through FixVTS and the into rebuilder it goes.

I always do pre-processing when I use DVD Rebuilder, like making it DVD compliant before loading into DVD Rebuilder, and use DVD Rebuilder for additional options and encode and compress down to 4.7gb.

There's nothing wrong with preprocessing. All I ask is that you not submit bug reports on preprocessed encodes. Always try without the preprocessing before reporting a problem. That's because it's up-in-the-air as to what is causing the problem (DVD-RB or the preprocessing).

More often than not the problem goes away with the preprocessing.

The most common problem with VOBblanker and DVD-RB is when you try to "Cut" out a part of the cell (NOT "Keep"). DVD-RB will give you an error in the rebuild phase and you will not be able to finish your DVD.

Otherwise no problems is you the generic stuff with VObblanker.

To blank out those stubborn discalimers, which dont show up in the preview but during playback, just blank out anything above 50-80kb, except the movie VTS (after you have blanked out on the extras etc)

what about menushrink. I use it and have never had a problem?

MenuShrink has one little issue - and that is when multiple sets of buttons exist. But this is an issue regarding display of highlights, not anything to do with the MPEG stream. DVD Rebuilder processes shrunk menus just fine, but usually it's irrelevant cos they are just a few Mb and DVD Rebuilder ignores them.

Blutach, sorry but I am confused... you know much more than me. I use menushrink simply because it will reduce the compression when backing up a full DVD. I have seen savings of 10% even with keeping the audio i.e. compression of 52% without using menushrink and 62% after using it on a full DVD backup, therefore a better quality backup.

Once MenuShrink has done its stuff, DVD Rebuilder, in its default setting, will ignore the menus - they are usually too small for DVD Rebuilder to worry about.
