DVD-RB Error while encoding Cars

I'm using the newest versions of RipIt4Me and FixVTS. I processed the whole Cars DVD with them, used DVDShrink to pull off the three titles I'm interested in (the main feature and two short films), saved it all to a hard disk file without compression, and ran DVDRB. Then I get this error in Phase III, right around halfway through the new encoding process. Anyone know what I've done wrong, or what can be done to fix it?

DVD Rebuilder experienced a buffer overflow. Error #0003. Process must abort.

After doing some more reading I realized that the difficulty was preprocessing last night and used MenuShrink and VobBlanker to cut the movie down to the titles I wanted. DVD-RB ran fine on the result. Can anyone tell me why VobBlanker and MenuShrink don't cause the same "preprocessing" problems that programs like DVDShrink apparently do?

DVD Shrink has its issues, but they are small. MenuShrink and VobBlanker are well written programs with an eye to compliance.

They're a little more up-to-date. You have to remember DVDShrink was released quite some time ago... and hasn't been updated in a long time. A lot has changed (e.g. structure protection) in the way source discs are formatted since then.

I'd also say a lot more knowledge is publicly available today about DVD structures and methods for cleanly editing DVDs.

I want to be clear that it is not my intention to criticize DVDShrink. It was revolutionary and brilliantly written freeware. As I have said before -- I don't see DVD-RB and Shrink as occupying the same market niche. They are two completely different methods of DVD backup aimed at what I believe to be different groups of users. DVD-RB grew out of the "Big Three" type of backup methods that required high-quality encoders and expensive authoring packages. Shrink was the leader of the "within-the-compressed-domain" transcoders. The way they work is actually not very similar at all.

If I seemed in any way critical, please forgive me. I think the authors of RI4M, DVDDecryptor and its successor ImgBurn, FixVTS, MenuShrink, VobBlanker, DVD-Rebuilder, DVDShrink, and many other free programs that I have not yet mastered, have accomplished something absolutely amazing. They have:

1) Defeated megamillion dollar efforts to stop consumers from customizing and backing up their DVDs.
2) Done it for free or solely for donations.

and even if that was all that they had done, I'd be super-impressed, but they've gone further. They've done it with such grace, beauty, and usability that someone like me, who doesn't understand the programs, can successfully use them. I stand in awe.

Every time I ask a question, I am conscious that I sound like a newbie, and every time I ask a question I am astonished that a few more hours of thinking and reading between the lines on unrelated posts will find me a work around. That is something I am used to having happen with only the most professional programs. That freeware is so professional is a triumph. So far as I can tell, the best programs for this hobby are all free.
