Hi,wondered if you'd be able to help me with something that's driving me mad. I've been using DVD Author v 1.06 for about 2 years now,& have had no problems burning discs. Recently i tried a trial version of v3,& since then,i've had an error when trying to burn discs. Now version 1.06 Files burn to the output folder fine, but when i go to write the disc,i get a dvd drive internal error message flag up,as below: The trial version of Version 3 worked fine for a week, but now just says the disc is completed immediately after hitting write disc. The disc is blank though. any ideas? have tried google, etc, but have come up blank. My Firmware on my drive (NEC DVD RW 3500AG) is upto date,& all cables are correctly fitted. it appeared a bit of a co-incidence it went after installing a trial version of v 3,& i haven't installed any other software recently. apologies if this appears in the wrong section,& thanks to everyone in advance for any help you may be able to give.
DVD Author burning problem

Thanks Chewy, but i am still within the 14 day trial. It worked fine 2 days ago,& now kaput. v 1.06 actually gave me an error as in my last post, but version 3 just says the disc is completed AS SOON as i hit the write disc button,as below: ican then click hit "write disk" as many times as i like, without anything actually being written to the disc. The vertabrim dvd-r discs i use showed up OK,gave me the correct speed options, etc, but just will not burn. I did notice though, when i popped the blank dvd in,the windows drive said Blank CD,which i hadn't noticed before.. apologies if i may have posted this in the wrong forum, but i just wondered if anyone had come across this problem before & i obviously need advice to solve it. Many thanks in advance!Comment

Thanks for the reply, chewy. I was starting to think maybe my burner had had it,but then i tried Nero to make a dvd,& everything burns fine. Just seems to be a prob with TMPGEnc v 3,so it's definetly some sort of software issue. I un-installed both Nero & TMPEGNc 3 & re-installed a clean install,& nothing's changed. I actually did a test with a Vertabrim DVD +RW this morning,& although the erase tool works fine,it won't actually burn anything. Same goes with the Vertabrim -R media discs. I don't use any other software to author dvds,& i haven't installed anything new recently. It worked fine up until a few days ago,& now it's driving me up the wall!Comment

looking at a example Nero log file, isn't there supposed to be a 2nd BUS type in the first bit? (after adapter driver?)
Thanks once more for your help.Comment

your firmware is way out of date, that would keep any newer media from burning.
download 2.1B, that will get us up to the latest in your line
boot into safe mode and update
after rebooting take one of your problem blanks and put it in and copy and paste the right hand side window from imgburnComment

Hi Chewy..i've actually solved my own problem.
After succesful burns with both Nero & Imgburn,i decided to burn the same video file with TmPGEnc. To my suprise,it burnt!
feeling pleased with myself,i decided to burn a new project. Then the same problem occured-disc saying "completed" as soon as i hit the Write button.
It was here i had some progress.
I decided i to C & p the files from my new project in the default My Documents/DVD folder to the folder i'd succesfully burnt from.
But i got an inaccessible command from windows (Couldn't even copy).
I soon realised that any video file in a folder in my C drive burnt fine, yet
any new project in the tmpgenc default my document/DVD folder wouldn't.
Strange,eh?
Then it dawned on me that about six months ago,i'd made my documents & settings folder PRIVATE,to keep my files safely away from the wife (who's also an administrator),& the kidlet, who also has an account.
I removed this,& bingo,TMPGEnc now burns succesfully from the default folder it sets up in My Documents.
I don't know why this makes a difference (as it worked fine the other day WITH the folder contents private),but hey at least TMPGEnc is working again.
i suppose i could always change the default folder in TMPGEnc to somewhere on the C Drive & have my files private again.
Thanks for your time & input chewy, much appreciated.Comment
