    Tmpgenc 4 not recognizing all of mpeg

    I have ripped my dvd's to one large vob file then renamed them to mpeg using dvd shrink, with the split unchecked. When ever i try to open most of them in tmpgenc it doesn't recognize all of the time of each movie. For example, a 1hour 48 min movie is shown as a 5 min 33 sec. Some of the files are read correctly, but most of them aren't. No other software has trouble reading or encoding them that i have installed, even my ps3 reads them just fine. My goal is to encode the mpeg's to h264/avc. None of the mpeg's are encrypted or copy protected.
    I have tried to use the mpeg tool, demultiplexer, but that only adds another problem and more time. Does anyone have a suggestion or know a solution?
    I am using Vista 64, Blunderware King of Corruption.
    And i have the latest version of tmpgenc 4 xpress

          He said clearly that "None of the mpeg's are encrypted or copy protected." I rip DVDs from DVD recorder all the time, it's my video footage from my camera. I'm doing a similar project this very minute, converting some old videos to H.264 to share with the scattered family, on a private site, of now-deceased family members, weddings, etc. It's a noble thing to do for the family.

          The problem here is you've not extracted the MPEG correctly, DVD Shrink was not the tool for that. Something that extracts the MPEG in "IFO mode" would have been better. My tool of choice is taboo here, but works best. I always forget the names of the alternate methods. I think AVI Demux is one of them. There has been discussion on this topic at videohelp.com quite a few times through the years, maybe give that site a look too.

          Some of the editing guides and tutorials at digitalFAQ.com may help too.
