TMPGEnc plus 2.5 problems

Hello guys

Ive been trying to add subtitles to a avi file. The process goes fine untill like 50% then i get this message that there's not enough free space on my hdd(system error 112). I have 100gb free space and the file im working on is 700mb. I allready cleaned my recycle bin wich contained 9gb of data and this solved the problem :/ . I tried encoding again but the error keeps coming back. Im using windows vista 32bit and TMPGEnc 2.524.63.181. I hope someone can help!

Hmmz i found the avi that TMPGEnc has created. 94gb.............. Anyone knows whats going on? Im using this info to create the avi :

To convert to AVI,DivX or XviD with permanent subtitles use TMPGEnc. In TMPGEnc first close the wizard, choose file->new project, open the video, choose File->Output to file->AVI File. Select a video compression like DivX or XviD and choose an audio compression like MP3 and hit save.

And here you will have to set the bitrate for the DivX?XviD encoder. Under "Video"/Setting/Compression select XviD. Then ,in XviD set the bitrate to something around 1200 kbps. and see how the result looks like.

I cant seem to find any option to change the bitrate. I did find a options for the compresion and changed it to xvid MPEG-4 Codec. I dont know what im doing but it encodes very fast. Normally it would take 3 hours and now only 1 hour and 10 minutes. I really appreciate your help couse i dont wanna install more programs and i know TMPGEnc is a great program. Cheers!

Hmmz i now end up with a avi that's 1,9 gb and the quality really went down. Any suggestions?

You might find AviDemux easier. Depending on the quality of the input and how much quality you want on the output. I use AviDemux 2.4. Load the .avi file. I set xvid to Single Pass Bitrate and use the default 1500. I leave motion detection at default. Set number of Bframes to 0 and uncheck BVHQ. Then in the next tab I check Trellis quantizer.

After you are set for xvid, press the Filters button. Use the appropriate subtitle filter for the subs you have. You can preview so see how they'll look in the frame. Save it to an .avi file.

Your original file was only 700mb. It was an avi. Surely it was already a very highly compressed file. Reencoding it will definitely reduce the quality. Why do you want to "hard code" the subs into the avi ? All players capable of playing avi(DivX/XviD) are also able to play the subs if the subs and the video file are kept in the same folder and they are similarly named.No need for reencoding.

Sometimes it looks even better if you mux in the subs with AviAddXSubs freeware. It works great in all my players.

Yes i know but my s-video isnt working on my new laptop. It must go back for repair but i wanna wait like 6 months. The only way i can look movies atm is by streaming the avi with my pcWMC--xbox360--tv. And 360 isnt supported to work with subtitles. Thanks for the info i will try AviDemux.

It took me a while to set everything up and i finally got the subtitles working but now the video stops every 1 minute and the 360 says loading. I guess its tversity related so i will make a topic @ the tversity forums. If you know whats the problem please tell me You saved me sooooooo much time with this method thanks alot man!

Yes, it seems the problem is with Tversity. Probably real time transcoding is causing this time lapse.
