I purchased a piece of softwave Idigicon VHS Backup. I've been intouch with Idigicon VHS Backup, and they have no clue what the problem is. I have a ENL TV-FM Tuner Card. When I record a VHS tape or record straight TV it has to be in the AVI file format using this Idigicon VHS Backup it want let me record in VCD or SVCD file format which is (MPG). Anyway the problem is the AVI file is unreadable with Windows Media player I get a error message saying "Class not registered" (80040154)?. I checked out Microsoft knowledge base and it said to install the latest DirectX, I already had the latest version. And if you get this error message when playing AVI files, it is possible that a problem exists with the codec that was used to create the file. How do I determine what codec was used to create the file? If anyone can help you can contact me through post or private message.
I used GSpot to analyze the AVI File and here are the results to the avi file in question:
1.This is a valid AVI file.
The file's length is consistent with information embedded within the file, so it's fairly safe to assume that this file is complete - i.e. the file has not been truncated or otherwise damaged.
2.This video is not compressed, or is compressed using a very simple method. As such, there is no 'codec' required to play it; all of the necessary software is already 'built in to' the O/S
The video for this file should play fine. Check the audio section for audio codec information.
3.Audio Format:

This audio is not compressed, or is compressed using a very simple method. As such, there is no 'codec' required to play it; all or the necessary software is already 'built in to' the O/S

4.DirectShow was unable to render the file. Following is the error it reported:
0x80040154: [unknown]
Number 4. is the same error message I get when trying to play it on Windows Media Player 80040154.
