I recently encoded some material with average bitrate of 1150 kb/s at 576x432 interlaced (with one of Nic's older XVID packages) - for the first time. The video (without audio) is jerking in panning scenes and there are frames dropped, actually the screen flashes quite nasty. The processor load is about 40%. What should I do best?
1. Re-encode without Interlacing (which means De-Interlacing)
2. Buy a faster graphics board (now a TNT2/ Vanta PCI, 32 MB)
The interlacing process doesn't seem that processor-intensive, so it's maybe the graphic card. Would be nice to know the problem solves itself with a hardware upgrade -?
I'll do some tests with a different screen res (now: 1024 at 32bit)
