    File Sizes Way Too LARGE

Running VDub on an AVI created by AutoGK, yielded a file size way too large, filling up all empty space on the hdd. The contents say to select 'Save as Old AVI' too avoid this from happening but it keeps happening.
How do I set VDub to create a file size equal to the source avi?

By encoding at exactly the same bitrate as the original.

Won't the 'Video > Direct stream copy' option prevent VirtualDub from reencoding the source file?

Only if you don't make any changes (cropping, de-interlacing, color correction, etc.) that requires encoding. It's a better bet to set the compression settings to match the source just in case.

Yes.But only the video file. Why will you do that unless you wish to encode the audio only ?
