    Not another Blu-ray vs HD DVD Poll

    Yes, another poll on Blu-ray vs HD DVD. Please note that the question is which format you like, rather than which format you think will win.

    I was actually in the Blu-ray camp, but after writing the FAQ, I'm going to switch sides and vote HD DVD mainly due to the copy protection issue. But for some reason, I think Blu-ray will out eventually, mainly because of the PS3 factor, and for some reason, it feels more "sexy" than HD DVD.

      i think blu-ray is better, only because of its higher capacity. still, i won't be buying anything hd for some time, its just not cost-effective yet (or beneficial, especially in australia beacuse of lack of actual hd content), especially with a lot of cheaper brands claiming to be 'HD ready' when they really aren't.

      i bought a hdtv tuner card, and watch hdtv on my 19" monitor, and that's all i will have for the next few years regarding hdtv equipment.

      ps. i *think* a hd-dvd disc can be authored with a regular dvd-r (mpeg-2, ofcourse), i made one once with 'dvdlab', ignoring all error messages at 1920x1440, and it came out alright. i tried playing it on my trusty sony dvd player (hooked up to a regular 68cm CRT), but i could only see a small portion of the video (the top left of the picture)... anybody tried this on a real hdtv? its worth a shot...

          i feel this technology is premature---they haven't even come close to perfecting standard dvd's....

              my vote goes to HD DVD. from what I've read it seems to be the most compatible.

                  Current format for yrs to come?

                  Do all of you agree that the blue ray/hd format shootout
                  will take quite a long time with consumers before a true winner[ if] comes out and that the current dvd format in which we aquire and backup dvds be it buying, blockbuster or netflixs rentals will still be around for many yrs to come for many of us who will not be buying new HD tv's, new dvd roms or burners for our pc's for some time?
