Thanks for replying... i did rename avi.000 file to 001... but when i tried to rename 001 file to 002... there 001 doesn't appear in the name but when i click on properties, it says type of file is 001... so i can't change it... is there any other way to change it... (i hope i made myself clear... it's a little complicated)

and 000 file's status did change to type of file - 001...

    please help

In a folder, go to Tools - Folder Options, and uncheck "hide extensions for known filetypes." Then rename PART.001 to PART001.AVI.

It will say "would you like to rename this file" because of changing extensions - just say yes to this, and you should be fine.

you may have to change the last one first let say you have 000,001,002,003 have to change 003 to 004 then 002 to 003 then 001 to 002 and last 000 to 001

No, because they are not already AVI files. The computer shouldn't think it's two files of the same name.

Ex: you can have a Temp.avi and Temp.wmv on the same folder, they are different files.

              Hi guys,
I have another problem. If you can help, please. I downloaded a movie in 8 parts. Then joined them through HJsplit. It worked very well. I could see it in VLC player.

The file has a weird format. And i want to convert it into mpeg, so that i can make a VCD. But can't find any software to convet this kind of file. Don't know what to do.

The name of the file after joining them is :

              Cheeni_20Kum[1].2007.1CD.DVDRip.By.Deejam

              Thanks

right click on your file, change the file name ( put .avi at the end), then you can use what ever program to make avi to mpeg

                      Not happening

                      Dear All,

I have down load HJ split. I have two files
                      some.avi.001
                      some.avi.002

HJ split is reading only some.avi.001, not the some.avi.002, even these two files are in same folder.

Even when I open the file select pop up window, the file type at bottom shows only some.avi.001.

                      Pls help

That is normal. It will only ask you to point to the first file. As long as the other files are in the same folder,HJSplit will join them logically.

wathongchai you can try loading it into AviDemux. Before loading the file open AviDemux Edit menu then Preferences, the Automation tab. Check all the boxes. If the .avi needs to have the index rebuilt, it will do it automatically when loading.
