Never had to use system restore ,? and how can you guys tell i needed the chipset update? Were is the old one?

PS Thanks for reminding me about system restore ,it might be a good ideal to creat a restore point before installing you think?
Would having a kvm switch hooked up cause any problems/

Thanks, Chewy but in my divice manager i dont have ,"via bus master" all i have is

+ Ide ata/atapi controllers
- nvidia nforce4 parallel ata controller
- nvidia nforce4 serial ata controller
- nvidia nforce4 serialata controller

But i just got done downloading v6.65 winxp took about 45 min I did not install yet, should I?

of the ones mentioned, key point here is: are your dates from an earler version?

Yes mines 2004, sorry. I dont see why since i had that custom made you would think they would put the latest drivers in, i know i payed enought for it. Thanks chewy

you assume a lot, they just used the cd, asus produced the motherboard with new bios recently?, but asus was too cheap to make a new driver package cd. I usually throw em away, I know the web has the newest drivers.

well i ended up replacing the burner, and the new one worked ok, then i went to nvida.com and installed these drivers ,got a message the folder allready had these files do i want to replace i said yes and reinstalled ,got to a part in the install process and it asked about serial or sata drives ,bottle necking, were it gave me an opption, i did not no what it was asking so i just left what was allready ticted,and yes , but its working now, thanks for the help guys
