    The mystery deepens.
I did a clean install (no 4in1 drivers or anything like that) and tried with the default MS drivers. Of course they don't have the TV-out option so I had to install the NVidia drivers. The jerkiness continues.
Then, a system restore point. Out with the GF4 and enter a Radeon7000 (I figured something cheap and in a similar class to the GF4 will do as fine as something expensive). After some initial fumbling around and a few system restores thanks to a cluttery install-cd (...) I figure out how to get the TV-out working properly on the Radeon. The jerkiness persists.
Another system restore to the last point where the GF4 was installed and I'm back from where I started. So...the GF4 isn't broken but something else.

I think I'll just give up now.

Don't confuse IDE drivers with graphic card drivers: they are different things

Of course they're different things. What makes you think I confused those in the first place?

My old 133a chipsets had a fan on the northbridge? Seems like
they get dirty and burned up a few of those chipsets, abit/asus mobos!
The northbridge handles the agp feeding I/O to the vid vard.

The only fans I have is the CPU fan and the PSU fan (obviously). This setup has been working perfectly fine before.

So it seems like all I need is a new PSU.

It would be nice to check with but maybe have a return option, what I do,
and it doesn't always work, is unplug every extra device i can and test.

Sorry, wasn't my intention to offend you

I posted that because many people actually have a little confusion about this. I saw many of these at cdfreaks.

                                Please accept my apologize
