    Audio Editing Help

Hey everyone, I had a question.

I like editing songs that have "bad words" in them to make them more "clean". Anyway, I have used Nero Wave Editor for this, but the real dillemma is that Nero can NOT overlay one segment on top of another, (say replacing the word "d***" with "dang" or something) which is a problem. As for instrumentals, I get those and try to match them up when I delete a word from a song but using the timecodes (ex. 3:14.159) does not work because they are obviously not the same.

So, what I am looking for is a program that lets you put in two (or more) audio files as seperate tracks, see the waveform (that's where Ulead becomes obsolete - and by waveform, I mean what Nero Wave Editor shows you), and can freely change the start point of the song... by dragging it to a later or earlier spot.

I have a trial of Sonar 4 but that does NOT let you freely move the track around, it goes in "chunks" of 5 seconds or so. I need precision.

    Anyone have any ideas?

NOTE: the program MUST be freeware or a full function trial.

    Thanks!

Hmmm, I will look in a minute. Have you used it? And can you lay files on top of another, seeing both of them at the same time?

I understand you are young drf but I'm not sure of your reasons for wanting to censor someones work? I'm not trying to be rude and don't mean any offense but if you don't like the lyrical content why do you listen to it? Again I don't mean to offend you

Want to see a sample of my edits? I have made some pretty cool ones. But I mean, rap by nature contains a lot of swearing, and the "edited" versions aren't always that edited. So I figure, I make it "G rated" and it would be better for everyone

My best one was probably "My Band" by D12. That was a flawless edit.

Audacity is great! It just has some weird stuff happen when making a WAV file, like it not being as good quality as the source. I will see if I can fix that. But I got a song done and it sounds just like a radio station edited it

you might be able to get a demo version of Audition that editor does anything..but it is not free..but it is very cheap and if your seriously into audio work it is by far the most bang for the buck inmy opinion for audio editors..
