    ask the support
let those ****heads come up with an appropriate solution

i have downlaoded both the flasher and the bios rom and there is absolutely NO information on how to properly use it

normally you will have to call flasher followed by the name of the rom but dont even try before knowing for sure

and the pcchips homepage didnt give any hints either

sorry to say so but that's the price you pay for buying pcchips

yes thank you thats what i did. i wrote to support on the website and see if they will answer this time. Last time I had a problem and wrote them about it they never answered back And I'm beginning to understand what you mean about Pcchips boards ....... I'm actually looking into new boards and just ditch this one all together. This board has givin me so many headaches. Any suggestions on a good affordable board that i can place my sempron into. Its a socket A 462 pin chip but im sure you knew that already. Thanks again for all your help.

put a blank floppy in a drive, format/make startup disk
put the flasher and rom on the disk, boot to floppy
        A:> "name of flasher"
when it asks supply name of bios flash

reboot, immediatedly go into bios and setup defaults

you better be good with bios!

seems you have to go the usual way via a bootable floppy disc

but before you try make sure that the bios rom you downloaded really way made for your mainboard

a mainboard with just a slightly different name/number may be quite different and trying to flash your older board with the bios of a slightly newer bios will result in a ****ed up board!

here is a list of socket a mainboards which will be able to hold a sempron 2600+:

i'd go for one of the boards from either:
          asus
          gigabyte
          msi

make sure to get onboard lan + audio

i wouldnt consider exchanging a pcchips mobo for an asrock much of an improvement

              ++++++++++++

on the other hand you may be right, chewy

spending too much on a board with an out-of-date socket isnt a good idea either

i guess i'd simply live with the current board and its temperatures until i had saved enough money for a new and up-to-date system like a socket 939 with an athlon64 (maybe even dualcore) and corresponding ram

it was one of the best choices available, they don't make socket a borads anymore

if this is the mobo then I would flash/allow popups for directions

yes Chewy that is the board that I have. So you feel I should just try and flash this board and see what happens then. I Just dont want to do something wrong since it really dont tell how to do the flash at all.

alright i got the instructions to show up but I have xp and can't make a boot disk so how would i go about getting a boot disk.

like I said before, take a good floppy, put in drive a
                          format/make boot disk
                          the add the files(2)

                          right mouse click

thank you so much again for your help. I did get a sucessful flash of my bios. I did talk to those people at that Milwaukee PC place again today cause I went there to look into a new motherboard and they asked how things were going and I told them I still was running hot. They asked about my temp again and told them its between 55-60 C at a idle stage and they told me that is pefectlly normal for an amd chip cause they run hot normally. and then they asked what my case temp was running at and i told them it was running at 87-90 F and they said that was really good for a case temp. Not really sure if they really know what they are talking about or not to tell you the truth. Thanks again.

way to go on the bios flash! it's not something I usually reccomend to
                              do-it-your-selfers! Makes me nervous!

                              1. your particular sempron probably runs hot
                              2. you may have gotten the paste on a little too thick and that fan/heatsink
may have not been very good
3.If your are now reading a case temp that's low, that's great!
the redline temp for semprons is 90C, they will burn up in a short time at that temp!

my cpu runs even hotter than yours(2.17GHz)
with an oversized heatsink fan and premium paste and an expert seating
                              it's running 48C idle
