My Pioneer 109 is in a 5.25" enclosure. The enclosures have a short IDE cable, DVD/CD audio cable and a power cable. They attach to the drive and then put the enclosure back together. Then, as long as you have Win XP. The enclosure should be play and play.

      I have error that saying:

Failed to write sector 32-63-Power on, Reset or Bus Device Reset Occurred.

      Or

The semaphore timeout period has expired

It still burn after a few or even 16 Retry but it cost over 1-3 minutes before it actually burning, and I can 't burn on the fly now because of this. I know this have something with the power reset and it does not work properly. I can only burn right away if the file is ready in iso and I just turn the power on then burn right away then I don't have this problem .

I still burn at 2x (occasionally 4x). There is no need to burn any faster. I can't wear my burners out. I am upgrading my LG 4040 to a LG 4167 not because of the speeds but, because it isn't black.

I am new to all this, and I am currently setting up my computer. I have read this thread and on advice went looking for an NEC or LG DVD burner. I have found 2 advertised, :
LG 16x Super. Multi DVD/CD Rewriter.
LO External USB2-Firewire, 4x DVD/CD Rewriter, external drive, multi layer support.

Which one do you guys think I should go with ?

I can suggest you 4 good burners (not listed in quality order):

                        1) benq 1650/1655 (1655 is the same of 1650 but it have lightscribe if you are interested): great burner and good scanner
                        2) LG 4167 (if you are interested to RAM media it's one of the best burners)
                        3) liteon 1693 (good burnings and great scanner)
                        4) liteon 1635 (good burnings and great scanner)
