the northbridge chipset temp tells all, it's cooking at 200fsb

    excellent cooling on those xenon's

you should be tearing up a transcode of a long movie with that setup,
shrink being multithreaded and 6GHZ of cpu power, lame L1 tho.

I'd probably turn off HTT in a bench, bet it's faster without!

BTW I would really expect that ram to do fine at 180 and cas 2

Thank you for your help and your time, I appreciate it. I finally got the PC working the way it's suppose to. Now, just slow down the fsb under 200 and up the multiplier. I'll post another report after I slow it down.

I'd always thought that the faster the fsb, the better and faster for processing.

true, but nothing works right without that agp/pci bus lock!

it's all about balance in the force(eliminating bottlenecks)
no matter how fast you get those xenon's going, the memory is going to bottleneck them at cas 2.5

won't the multipler go past 15?

are you running the ram by spd?

Actually 16x is the max on these by default in bios

I never really set it, didn't know what numbers to put in there so as not to screw up the memory.

The fsb is set to max @ 165 and the multiplier is 16x max in bios. The mobo has three settings and to get the settings, it's jumpered. Not much of a choice. Either, way slow 100 - 132 fsb, slow 133 - 165 fsb or 200 - 233 fsb, multiplier @ 16x max in bios 3.728ghz not by these chips.

So for the menory, cas is 2,

                active precharge delay, choice is 8 7 6 5 ??

                dram ras# to cas# delay, choice is 4 3 2 ??

                dram ras precharge, choice is 4 3 2 ??

as I said before "I know just enough to be dangerous"

The BenQ is working at this setting, burned several dvd's so far with no stalls on the PC. go figure

when you take J1 and jumper pin 1&2
and jumper 3&4, what does bios show for fsb selections?

                        J1...2..1
                        ......4..3
                        ......6..5

pins 1-2, 3-4 when these are jumped- cpu fail

                        pin's 1-2, 3-5, 4-6 jumped for 100 -132 mhz

                        pin's 3-5,4-6 jumped for 100 - 132 mhz

                        pin's 4-6 jumped for 133 -165 mhz

                        pin's 3-5 jumped for 200-233 mhz

                        not much of a choice - if I got different cpu's ???

the problem is the age of the motherboard!

of course I would like dual dual core opterons myself!

yeah- it's an ancient mobo. But the chips for it are cheap - cost me $85 for the two.

thanks again - it running great and burning fine. I can still rip 2 at the same time but burn one at a time

Oh no mighty one - in good faith I can not accept this great honor, but I want to thank my wife who put me on a "budget" in putting this PC together and of course all those years in dumpster diving 101 has helped me to sharpen my senses in snooping out deal's

btw, most of the componets used in the building of this PC had a "MIR" - gotta love thoses rebates
