How to back up a computer game?

    Hi everyone,

just a quick question, (i hope this is in the right forum) I have a computer game that i love and would like to back up. I scratched up the first one and had to go buy another copy. I tried to back it up but it won't let me (i tried nero). The game is Civilization 3. Am I out of luck and keep having to go buy copies when i mess them up? or is there a way to do it?

    Thanks
    Krystal

I feel your pain! We have Casino Empire when my son scratched it I bought a new one and I tried 5 times to back it up with a no go. The back up wont play and that is the only Computer game I couldn’t back up.

    Hopefully someone has an answer.

I've actually tried it, and blindwrite as well. The clonecd does not back it up as it says it is copyright. and the blind write will work, BUT only when i use it on the same cd drive and computer that i used to back it up.

What? CloneCD works great for me and completely ignores the copyright. You select "protected CD" as the read and write type. And no it's not free, but it is trialware, and after the trial is done (for me), it still works fine, with a window saying it expired.

clonecd(old) is not clonecd(new), clone only works right in drives that support raw reads, blindwrite is as good as it gets but here again only with the right hardware and a lot of finesse. It's a steep mountain, not user friendly at all.

I hated BlindWrite... just f'ed up my CD burner, and left me a screwed up CD-R.

you were out of your league, the game companies are way past anything I have seen with dvd's. Think about it!

Just like movies, some games aren't really protected, others make dvd protection look like kid's play. When i played with blindwrite I was using plex cd premium burners and had to go on the web and set all these intricate settings, then use the backed up cd in a crappy cd-rom for it to play(and that was over a year ago).

Well that may be why I couldnt back one of my games up.

pc game backup is beyond anything seen in dvd video, trust me. games can be backed up, but sometimes with horrible limitations.

there's plenty of rave about alcohol 120%
Alcohol is CD / DVD burning copying backup recording duplication emulation and creation software.
