Hi Chewy!, What type of RAM to buy?

I downloaded Everest 2.20 and ran a scan of my system. It said I had insufficient RAM memory.

Next Question: What do I buy? What type? How big? $$$$$? Is this a do it yourself project? Benefits and liabilities?

    Find attached the Everest report

Well they put the cheapest they could in, but I wouldn't throw good money after bad, if you have to have more ram just get another 512 of the cheapest. You would probably get more benefit from an extreme power user setup and that system.
Nurse it along for another year or so.
My lamer computers have socket A cpu's running at 2.167 GHZ with cas 2 pc400 ram and agp video cards with 128/256 megs of dedicated, not shared memory.
If you learn how to run a computer lean and mean, just think what a new one would do when you build it.

Thanks Chewy! It was a $699.00 at Sam's Club last March 2005. I power tweaked this using the suggestions in this thread. The next one will be better and faster. Thank you for your time and of course: "The Force!"

512 mb (-64 for your vga) is an average value and should do the job with this machine

on the other hand another 512mb wont cost you too much when going for the cheaper ones like chewy already said

spending money on fast and more expensive ram isnt worth the money as your current module isnt really fast either:

            512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz)
