capturing problems

for some reason my computer doesnt detect my camera so i cant capture anything. it use to work and now it just doesnt detect in movie maker, premiere, or pinnacle. ive tried firewire, usb, dv, and s-video plugs and none work, but they all work on my friends computer. anyone know why my computer would just stop detecting my camera?

What capture card are you using?

i dont use a capture card, i use my dv tapes? i have a panasonic pvdv953 if that helps.

have you installed any new solft ware?

Have your tried to re-inastall the software that came with you cam.?

If it used to work I am thinking that some where a file may have become corrupt or deleted.

What software came with the cam?

camera came with no software. right now im just using different peoples computers and capturing to my external harddrive then editing on my labtop, but id like to figure this out eventually. ive reinstalled windows and even got a new harddrive for my labtop for different reasons so im not sure what could be wrong
