    Suggest a good Graphics card?

My brother in-law bought a new dell (they live in germany). he's one of these people who play games on the pc and he took the pc back and ordered a new one because he wasn't happy. all he can tell me it comes with a radeon graphics card, but which models are suitable for games?

I would think it should be ok based on the rest of the pc specs that i know of. 3.X Proc., 250 GB HD, 1024 MB RAM...

I know i can google and all that stuff, but i want YOUR comments and suggestions.

    which model

which model did he purchase. That will help make the decision which will work best with what he has. Is it a Pentium 4 or is it Dual Core? Most of the time I like to recomend the Dual 256 Nvidea 7800 GTX.

I like NVidia Geforce graphics. For a good card I would suggest a high 6000 series such as 6800. The best are 7000 series such as the Geforce 7800 but they cost a lot more money. I would also get at least a 256MB card. Also, some cards now require PCI Express now rather than AGP.

        Has he got a budget?

I am really happy with my ATI X800 256 Pro AGP. It was reasonably priced and
Ati drivers are consistent and easy to get. I do a lot of Flight Simulator (FS2002/2004) and Space Simulators and I can run everything at the maximun graphics settings. My FS2004 has a huge amount of add-on terrain and traffic and the card runs smoothly.

My .02 Make sure to have him check the games specs. Some games specify what type of graphics cards work best with their software.

The best of the best that's out now is the Ati Radeon 1900XTX. Radeon's image quality on large monitors can't be beat.
