Can the 512 and get the 2 gigs, you won't regret it, the best bang for the buck and with memory prices as low as they are now is the time. Not only that with DVD43 and 2 gigs of ram you'll be fast as H%ll

Not always, I added 512 to my 256 and it runs as slow as before.

I think it all depends on how good your computer is to begin with. What type of memory it is, or what is best for your mobo.

                        bottlenecks

limited bang for the buck with another 512 stick

no real point in the gig sticks

Ram upgrades should be exponentially greater, 256mb adding 512mb isn't that great because XP needs at least 256mb to just run. 512mb to 2 gigs would almost be like a new computer unless you have a old processor. Nighttran has a decent processor but his FSB kind've sucks, I wouldn't put much into this computer because of the CPU Motherboard deals currently available. Since PC3200 is still used on a lot of machines it can be used on a future updated machine, tho an CPU/MoBo update would required the puchase of XP again. Bottomline is 2 gigs would be an excellent upgrade for this machine as it would max everything else out.IMHO

I must admit that becoming the Lord of Digital Video must have taken a lot of patience on this machine. My hats off to you.Really.
