      But they're soooo cuddly ! ! !

Anyone have any recommendations as to how to maybe filter the case air intakes?? Or would that restrict airflow too much??

My Alien Box has been doing something similar !

I cleaned a few weeks back, check this out ... blew it out with a leaf blower ... ROTF !!!

It all started with WMP while making backups of CD Music, it would just Blue Screen and reboot.

Then I started getting burn failures ....

Now, the video was flaking out, vertical bars with horizontal hashes and freeze up.

I reseated all components, still got the video flake again. Then on my last boot NO VIDEO. Had a KVM in the mix, so I removed it. Still no video output.

New video card came in the mail to today:
              eVGA 128-A8-N339-LX Geforce 6200 128MB 64-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail $39 CLICK HERE

Got it after reading the following about a ATI Radeon card, which is what I currently had in the puter during the failure, forget the exact model #:
"I purchased this card to replace my dying Radeon 8500LE which was overheating, causing frequent system crashes."

Well tonight will tell as the card has arrived today, will install tonight and run some of the tests mentioned in the posts above.

BTW: Here is the case, it has the 500w PS CLICK HERE

hmm, the drive seems fine but 174f/79c is quite hot for a cpu

a p4 runs hot, yes and it may be due to warm environment temps whereever you are but this cpu temperatures is something you should keep an eye on

maybe the sensor isnt correct - try to doublecheck the temperatures in your bios

@uncas & chewy: the drive is at 41c. AFAIK should be between 35-40c under working conditions, i'm guessing his temp is at idle, kinda risky, no?

Well it wasn't the video card ...... and I told a slight Alien tale ..... I unseated everything except one thing ...... I was trying to avoid as everything was so neat and tidy in the case and tried to do it without moving the case from under the table ..... well I pulled it out, laid it on the bench and did it, cut all the ties and removed the cooling fan and unseated the CPU .... dat was it, walla I'm back in bidness or Alien delightness .....

I will try to do some tests ASAP so UncasMS & Chewy can give advice. But first, I have to put everything back in place, three puters, KVM, network, Video Processor...... and I have to crack into and old NT box I haven't turn on for quite some time (5+ yrs), the boss needs to practice on a special CAD progy on the NT box .... well I forgot the Admin PW (lol), gotta try an crack the reg via boot CD.

I just now checked EVEREST again. No change. I've never gotten into the BIOS. How do I do that and what do I look for?

                              Thanks for your help!

some chips report the core temp for the cpu, it's a lot higher

del key when kb lights flash on some computers?

make sure your case is getting plenty of fresh cool air, stuck back in a desk acts like an oven
