    windows freezing at startup

everything worked fine with editing the boot.ini so now one system starts only.but one problem remained from the times of new graph.card installation.when computer turned on windows starts...the load tray is running and black screen with only mouse arrow appears, few secs later its joined by the sandclock and thats it...cant move mouse arrow any more and windows dont move on to the blue "Wellcome" screen.only after a few forced restarts computer finally decides to start up windows as it normaly should. When windows is properly started, everything works exellent.

here's the everest report - if it can help with figuring out what could be wrong...

Problem Some applications may run better in 32-bit color mode.
Problem At least 85 Hz vertical refresh rate is recommended for classic (CRT) displays.
Problem AGP aperture size is more than half of the system memory size. This may cause performance penalty.

you are taking a big performace hit with the cas 3 stick of ram, depending upon availability I would want a 512 cas 2 stick or another 256 stick, (edit forget the 512 stick)
you are running lean and mean

after lowering apeture size in bios to 128, see if power supply is too weak to boot system, by unhooking
a few nonessential things(case fan, optical drive, etc)

i dont believe that power supply is too weak, they bought a new one...but i think that apperture size and those refreshrates settings could easily have sth to do with this...
            expect update soon

i set aperture size to 64,there was no 128MB option...and also set refresh rate to 85Hz,and 32bit mode...it seemes fine now...if that happens again its most likely ill do a clean install

I think I would concur(agree) with Uncasms on that!
Remember to let windows xp load default drivers for that motherboard,
go into device manager and only load anything that's got a problem.
Many older drivers were written for older versions of Xp and are buggy.

                  ok,thnx
just explain "load anything that has a problem" - did you mean that i should install its original drivers,if the XP ones are causing problems/dont exist?

No, only load the latest motherboard drivers if XP hasn't already got a driver for it. Whichever driver has the latest date is the one to use.
Often people take intel, via or nvidia drivers and load them over the top of
windows xp ones that work fine, the older drivers on a motherboard cd are usually the culprits.
