Shortest answer ever
So, how would I go about fixing this... I tried to delete a folder and got like 5 of those in a row.CYA Later:

virus scan, spam scan, malware scan etc. All in safe mode of course.
Oh and it would really make me nervous if the "send report" button worked. I shudder to think what it could send.Comment

Actually, LimeWire is like guaranteed spyware-free, that's why Download.com has links to it
@Chewy I have used the method of reformatting for the past year or so, works fine, but the problem for me is backup. I have like 150GB of files... how many packs of DVD-R's is that?
@uufta, did the reformat fix that "ghost IE window" problem?
@anon, the only firewall I have is Windows Firewall... I am too poor to buy one, unless there is some decent free firewall. I used to use McAfee, but it got screwed up on me so I switched to AVG.CYA Later:

drf,
I always partitiom my hard drive into a system and data partition, if for some reason I need to reinstall windows from scratch then I just delete the c partition or format, depending upon how concerned I am with problem.
Data stays intact on my data partition, however a lot of viruses overwrite certain install files saved on the data partition. Limewire the program is safe,
it's what you download that's not safe. Why do you think it warns you when you download an executable?Comment

@ drfsupercenter
ok. I'm going to suggest 2 Microsoft products. Can't believe I'm doing this,
But I suggest <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?pocId=&freetext=windows defender&DisplayLang=en"> Windows Defender (Beta 2)</a>. &
<a href="http://www4.imagine-msn.com/minisites/onecare/Default.aspx?locale=en-us"> Microsoft live one care</a>
best thing Microsoft has ever done (the first time). I truly Like it
let me know if it helps

Yes DRF, the clean wipe and re-install took care of her problems, all they told her is that she had a couple different viruses, my guess is they took the easier route, rather than trying to remove the bugs, she lost a lot of data files, but learned some lessons, I hope.Comment

Hmm OK, so here's the question... what to put on my 60GB drive and what to burn.
And how many DVD-R's I will need, LOLCYA Later:
