I just counted 70 bucks in my little bank... so next time I do something to get paid I will have enough.
But being broke isn't fun. Oh well, a new drive is worth itCYA Later:

OK, I am planning on buying that hard drive tomorrow.
Now, I don't know how much sense this makes.
I have a 160GB drive with less than 1GB filled, and not too many free blank DVDs to back them up on.
Could I install Windows on the 200GB drive, set the 160GB to slave, and not erase the files? Then once Windows is installed, I could copy the files I wanted over to the 200GB drive, and later wipe the old drive.
Then I would transfer back.
Unless there's an easier way... but I don't want to waste my precious DVDs.CYA Later:

But I want the 200GB as my main drive.
Could I transfer it after reformatting?CYA Later:

Also, Chewy what was that about partitions, you will have to explain (in English) how to do that, as I am a noob when it comes to that stuff.CYA Later:

Which is exactly what I was asking, LOL.
Now, when I go to format the 160GB, is there a special way to format it so Windows sees it as just storage? I had to use my Western Data Tools CD that came with my 160GB drive to get my current slave drive to show in Windows.
Also, is there a possibility of that IRC virus creeping into my new drive? Is there a way to scan for it to see what file is infected so I can delete it?CYA Later:

To have windows on your 200Gb is a waste. Buy a small 80Gb and use that as your system drive. Use the big drives for data storage.

concerning the virus, I would unhook the old drive and boot to the windows cd with the new drive, set up a 30 or 40 gig system partition and install windows, make sure you have made any driver and software disks before hand. Update windows and install anti virus software and update. Now hook
up the old drive(and of course change jumpers/duh/cable positions etc) and run a full scan and delete any infected files. Set up a data partition(extended w/logical drive) on the new drive, transfer data to it. Format the old drive after you are absolutely sure you have all data.Comment

I have room for two drives, and I have a 60GB and a 160GB currently.
I need more space so I am getting a 200GB.
I am interested in the partitions, but have no idea how to do it.
Maybe on the day I format the drive I will use my mom's computer and you can help me from there?
Also, none of my virus scans detect the virus, strangely enough.
So when I partition it, will it still show as drive C on My Computer? (even though there are two partitions? And how much space do I need for Windows, on the 60GB drive it didn't take more than 20GB)CYA Later:
