My dvd burner will only burn re-writable dvd's

If he can burn any dvd, then it about has to be a firmware/media issue
with other blanks.Comment

I did try to get my problem's sovlved by installing a fresh formatted (NTFS ) hard drive.
At the beginning of my set up. I did check to see if my dma setting were where they were suppose to be set at and they were set at dma 5. I then installed service pack2 and once this was installed and rebooted. I check again to see if the setting were still there and luckily they were ok.
I then installed windows virtual machine. Rebooted and checked my dma. ok yet.
Then i installed the new version of dvd shrink, and imgburn rebooted and the dma setting's change to dma 6 lol.
Any idea's what might be going on. Do i hardware, software problem's or could it be that my hard drive is faulty ?
BTW I haven't installed nero 6.3 yet.
I did try to To burn a movie and i got the same thing. Error when trying to burn on a regular dvd , but i did get the movie burned with a re-writeable . ? ?? ? ? ?Comment

IDE Contoller's bad
I didn't realize that people would come and look at an old post.
So here i am again posting in an old one.
I have a sata drive ( 80 GIG ) the is my secondary drive. This is where i put all my burned movies and other program.
My main drive is a maxtor 40 gig. When i try to have both my cd-rom and my dvd burner on the same ribbon. I have changed the ribbon to an 80 pin ( new ).Window's XP will not see the both of them, but when i only have my ( sony ) dvd burner on it. It will see my dvd burner. Could it be possible that my ide on the mother board is bad ?Comment
