    Ah, maybe a great find on your part anonymez , my laptop does NOT have Nero installed. It only has a DVDROM right now so I never bothered to install it. I guess that was the difference between your boxes where it worked and it didn't I guess? I woulda never thought it woud be that, sounds like MPC needs something Nero installs

      all it took was opening up add/remove programs on both pc's and listing relevant software on my main pc, comparing with other pc. the only difference was nero. the moment it installed, tried playing an iso, it worked, no reboot

          No I don't have Nero on this computer. I have Nero Express I think on my other computer - I'll try that one. Also - none of my computers are laptop.

          @jm1647 & anonymez
          Are you talking full version Nero? This express is something that came with a drive and honestly I don't use it.

          @benbryant - you have nero too?

          @anonymez - nice detective work, great effort!

          I'll report back when I can here.

            @gs47 - in my case it is Nero 6.6.0.18 Ultra Edition

              @gs47 - I just installed a Nero OEM version (and updated it to 6.6.0.18) that came with one of my LiteOn burners and installed it on my laptop that does not even have a DVD burner in it and now MPC opens up isos for anonymez and like I said who would thunk it

                Yes, both my PCs installed with Nero

                @anonymez
                Great detection

                @jm1647 and @gs47
                Although I hardly use Nero for burning video DVD, IMHO, it is good to have it to burn data CD or DVD though

                Regards

                  Ok, now that I got it working with Nero installed, I got an iso rip\MPC question. Since I'm a file mode rip guy, with an iso rip playing in MPC should you get working menus and chapters ?

                      Of course, with DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. Unless you use DVD Shrink in re-author mode, then can't keep menu (you can save menu using blutach's excellent guide)

                      Regards

                        I did a DVD Decrypter iso rip and all I get in MPC is play, pause, stop, fast back, fast fwd and step and the menu doesn't work. But the file mode rip plays good in MPC... I dunno I'm glad I'm a file mode guy

                          @ ben & jm: no prob

                          though it seems to me that mpc does not support ISO images, rather nero mounts them automatically for dshow apps, since:

                          - mpc doesn't "see" the ISO extension, need to select 'all types'

                          - i remember cynthia saying wmp plays ISO images, i found that odd since it doesn't play dvd's (natively). pretty sure nero is involved here too

                          - no difference in filter graph

                          VLC will play regardless

                            Thanks again anonymez, I figured the all types thing out when I was trying to get it to play. Opens up ok with right click- open with. Now back to my normal file mode

                              I just love the drag and drop feature of MPC. I just drag and drop any .ifo, .vob, .iso, .avs,...into MPC or its shortcut on desktop and it plays the file instantly. What a great free tool
