start fresh. you could have been up and running with a new install by now. just my opinion.

LT is right... I've been where you are right now, & used to beat myself over the head trying this & that to try to fix it, only to find another error message/virus warning/corrupt file to pop up.

You will be chasing this thing down forever, because it is probably so deeply embedded in the system.

I say cut your losses, backup & save whatever data you can that is important to you, & clean install.

tomorrow is another day, life goes on, it gets better, & after 3 weeks or so you won't even miss the stuff you lost...

well, maybe you will - but at least you will be working with a stable system at that point!

Danny,
the hard part about defeating these new trojans is there's often a component that hides and downloads updates from the internet, you have to kill it after disconnecting from the internet. To kill one real pesky version took me almost
7 hours spread over 2 days.

i really doubt ur system will be same as before even if u succeed, just format install fresh and install everything u want then make an image, incase u do ur "not again ". again

Reformat drf, my nephew got his PC into hell of a mess and he didnt want to reinstall all his apps but in the end I talked him into it and it really is the only way to get rid of any nasties for definite. Bite the bullet and learn from the mistake.

Sigh, I would but it's almost gone! All of my work to get rid of those programs, I don't wanna just reformat!

I just gotta get rid of those last two... and plus, some program's gotta work!

When I was at the computer store, they were like "get spy sweeper and your problems will be solved" so my dad bought it (this was a year ago or so), but it didn't really work... I think a combination of programs is the way to go.

@mill, I got that long ago.

OIN's gone but now it's just generic popups and fake notices on Yahoo mail.
I wonder, if I get the freeware program Ad Muncher, if it will counter the ads?
