If I remember correctly I last used a floppy sometime around Y2K. I think it held about a meg and a half.

to get the best flash, make sure the burner is standalone master on the secondary ide, flash in safe mode and then after rebooting try a burn and scan

            shhh! don't tell everybody this

I had one very hard flash turning an nec 1100 into a 1300 and the burner rebooted into a safe mode with light flashing, I reflashed and then powered down not rebooted, it fixed it. Another mod here flashed his with a disk in drive and killed it, won't name names, I have done that twice, but reflashed and the drive is fine. He was just looking for an excuse to upgrade. By booting to dos and the right flasher I think he could have fixed it.

chewy is explaining the technical side of things. if you are burning ok, you're fine.

reflashing is fine if you suspect there might have been a problem with the first flash, I had one personal experience where I suspected my firmware had gotten corrupt and another where someone here reflashed and fixed their burns.
