          Need some enlightenment here, just upgraded to DualCore a week ago but so far only doing one WU at a time on this PC, does this still apply. Currently using graphic program.

              @ soup:

              dont use the gui version unless you have the GPU clients with a new ati vga! c.f. here: http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-ATI.html

              with a dualcore running windows please use the new SMP client - see the last lines of my initial posting in this thread

              windows SMP client => http://www.stanford.edu/%7Ekasson/fo...P%20Client.EXE

              @ locoeng
              504 is fine for all single cores running windows!

              +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

              a last word on the SMP clients for dualcores:

              those workunits have a very tight time frame - mainly 3-4 days max, prefered 2-3 days!

              the dualcores i am running the SMP clients on finish their WUs within 1.5 days but that's running 24/7
              should you not be able to run the machine nonstop until the WU has finish: dont even start!

              WU which will be turned in to pande group AFTER the final deadline will NOT bring you any points and the project will be given to another pc - i.e. another machine will do the same calculation once again, which of course is a waste of time!

              so runnning an SMP client should be done with a pc which you dont stop while calculating but this SMP client will earn you way more points than single core clients!

              the highest scores i have seen for SINGLE core client GROMACS were these:

              1164 574.00 GROMACS Description dlucent
              1165 622.00 GROMACS Description dlucent

              when SMP clients give you these credits:

              2604 1760.00 GRO-SMP Description kasson
              2605 1760.00 GRO-SMP Description kasson
              3023 587.00 GRO-SMP Description densign
              3024 652.00 GRO-SMP Description densign
              3025 587.00 GRO-SMP Description densign
              3027 716.00 GRO-SMP Description densign
              3036 1440.00 GRO-SMP Description densign
              3037 1440.00 GRO-SMP Description densign
              c.f. stanford's project page: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html

              and then there are project not listed which i have run recently:
              Project 2610: 1523 points, deadline 4 days
              Project 2651: 1760 points, deadline 4 days
              Project 2652: 1148 points, deadline 3 days

              so all in all you may run a dualcore for 2 days and the credits surpass those for single core clients running more than a week!

                    @locoeng - welcome to the team!

                    On my PIII 733 it was like 4 hours for a step/frame on WUs like 2124

                      After about 24 hours of steady processing I'm at 2,350,000 of 5,000,000 steps...but I leave my PC running around the clock anyway so I might as well contribute.

                                Do I have to complete my first task in it's entirety before I show up on the roster?
