?'s about moving boot files !!

ok chewy recently told me that i need to get rid of this old hard drive its really old and on my primary channel its pretty much worthless and slowing down my burner. I have a 120gb drive sitting right next to it i dont know why the guy put the boot files on it because the pc wont start without each one plugged in. HOWEVER, there is hardly an room on the drive!! how can i switch the boot files to my newer and larger HD or install the newer ones!!

do you know the 240MB(10 year old drive) has the boot files on it?

right click on my computer/manage/disk management
what does that say the system drive is/

well on DISK 0 its the 244 MB NTFS DRIVE E
HEALTHY (Active)

its DISK 1
that has 2 partition and has the (system)

what is the purpose of that worthless drive and how come I cant just unplugg it and start XP
if i do it says disk read error at the black and white start up screen

but i have xp home on my pc

will that make a diff

i can get xp home if needed my gf has it

whatever you do make sure all your data is on the second partition of the large drive, how is it broken up(divided)?

if windows (system) is on the large drive, and that drive is staying in dma mode even slaved to a pio drive, then it's probably not slowing you down as the boot files are small and load fast.

when i go to my computer and double click and look whats in it, it comes up empty.

Sorry to keep bugging you guys but i need some instruction would rather like to get rid of it so i can get this new drive working like its suppose to

I can get another HD if thats the case i just dont see why this other one isnt big enough for what i need and its prety much new

why will it not boot without this drive what can i do to delete it. there is a tab that says you can delete this partition should i do that it says only 3mb of the 244 is in use sorry you guys but this is just frustrating

Now let's open up C drive thru my computer.
Using view I set to icons, then under tools/folder options,
I check Use Windows classic folders,

next in the View tab,
I uncheck Hide extensions(this is very important), then I uncheck hide protected system
files, now check Display contents of system folders, display full path in .., show hidden files,

and show control panel in my computer. Hit apply then go to top and hit apply to all folders.
As long as you leave the "Leave the remember each folder's view setting" checked, you can customize individual folders like my pictures later.

unless you apply those changes you can't see the hidden boot files
